I have just been in a meeting for an hour listening to people bag
Catholicism...
The thing that worries me is that they are spiritual leaders..... The
general discussion was that is was dieing out and birth control.
Have i studied a religion which that will not exist in 3 years time???
Please prove me wrong! I want at least 10 reason's why i should be
catholic over protestant
Thanks People.....

Yes. Very funny but I've been down this road a few times before and there
are numerous similarities between arguments about programming languages and
arguments about religion or cars or football teams.
I've heard very smart people argue the case for CF, PHP, ASP.net, Python,
Java and Perl. Each argument has its merits, each language has its strengths
& weaknesses and the arguments invariably end up being about the relative
importance of these strengths & weaknesses ('but Java is strongly typed and
that is a good thing!', 'but Coldfusion is weakly typed and that is a good
thing!' and so on...).
A bunch of people are about to step up & give you some great reasons to use
Coldfusion - I'd be very disappointed if Robin & Geoff & others don't throw
in some really useful stuff. But at the end of the day you're arguing about
Holden vs. Ford & some people are not going to change their minds regardless
of what you put in front of them.
Personally I like CF because its nice & quick & easy to pick up & put down.
It runs pretty fast & stable & doesn't cost the earth. It supports on a few
common platforms & a bunch of databases. Best thing about CF is the query
object that gets returned from verity & cfdirectory & things like that & the
fact you can do query of queries on any of them. Another cool thing is
cfdump.
I really like the concept of PHP, but I hate Perl style syntax.
But all of this is pretty subjective - I don't think I've ever done anything
in CF that could not be done in any of the languages I listed above.
The most worrying part of your email is the concern about whether CF is
still going to be around in three years - that's typical FUD tactics &
should be ignored. I can't see into the future but I'm pretty confident CF
has a healthy life ahead of it. Look at this list, check out fullasagoog.com
& come to MXDU - I think CF is alive & well.
Cheers
Mark
