Rob, yeah, I know I'm not your teacher anymore but the arguments are still there. PHP is a primitive language. Sure ColdFusion CFC's (which we only touched on) aren't REAL objects (like in ASP.NET) but they fit the bill nicely. And until the new PHP Zend 2 engine comes out (still waiting...), PHP hasn't even got that - only classes. No more powerful than classic ASP in this regard...
OO programming is the real GO, especially for anything bigger than a scripted website. you want true re-usability, enterprise level stuff? use objects. Sure there are large PHP websites but I bet it's full of spaghetti code and compromises to make it that big/complicated. and CF makes components real easy to make and use - time savings that will pay for a new licence any day.
