I agree with Chad and Grant, its pretty much to weed out people who
have no experience and want there first job or people with little
experience.

2.5 years or 3 years won't matter to most employers.

I couldn't see Corfield going for a CF job that asks for 4 years
experience and getting knocked back because he had 3.5 lol, although
there are some whacked employers out there who'll try and shaft you.
If you're confident in your skills/experience just apply and have an
interview and use that to express your skills.
Most employers won't mind and you'll be able to tell if they do or not
by how the interview is going, but as a friend once told me "if your
in an interview and you find the back of your head is Repetitively
hitting the bottom of the desk you know the interview isn't going
well"  :)
