Bob,
Excellent animation. As to the plus issue, I believe you should try to
follow the actual J text representation as much as possible. In the case
of conjugate, this means that you should start the animation laying out
the function with the plus on the left, just as in J:
+ 2j1
Then move a ghost of the 2j1 to the left until it is over the plus,
leaving the original 2j1 alone, much like you did on the sum video. Then
the ghosted complex number is conjugated and made solid, and then moved
below the original equation. In this way, we maintain a similar form to
the dyadic functions, as well as maintaining a look similar to the
actual J code.
The graph at the bottom makes more sense in the case of complex numbers,
though I still worry about having too much stuff going on at once. Since
the video can easily be replayed multiple times with the viewer focusing
on different aspects each time, it may be OK.
