In fact, Leonel, it is _we_ who should be doing that change ;-) Could
you please try to add it to a 0.99.23-2 package?  (Sorry, as I told
you earlier on, I am way overwhelmed by work right now and cannot look
into packaging for some more days) Upgrades should never break
functionality for our users!

Cherokee starts running as root and then drops privileges to the user
specified in the configuration. The file could even be unreadable for
any users except root (0600) FWIW. And to modify this file,
cherokee-admin runs as root. So it's fine as it is.
