I helped a friend change them out on a 72' Le Mans. We were able to beat
them out. It wasn't too bad. It's all about the technique. The first few
were a pain. We used a press (at UT Austin), but then we figured out a good
old beating worked well. His weren't boxed at the time so you probably won't
have to worry about metal bending like we did with his which were not boxed
yet. Hope that helps.

You may have to burn it out. Use a torch to light the rubber on fire and
let
it melt away, then beat them out with a hammer. I actually beat mine out
with a really big hammer. They are in there pretty good. I didn't even
bother to change them when I redid the rear suspension oin my cousins Monte
Carlo.
