I rebuilt a 55 willys pickup that had been sitting for 22 years out in
a field. That stuff was a LIFE saver!!!!!!! I love the stuff.

while now this topic keeps coming up... Now not that it isn't a valid topic
but I am quite puzzled as to why guys have to go through such heart ache to
get the bushings out. Now I have replaced many a bushing in the rear end
housing and the most effective way to get the bushings out that I have used
involves 2 big hammers, some penetrating oil and a light tap. Now we usually
liberally apply our favorite lubricating oil (PB Blast seems to work great),
take one hammer and set the flat side flush with the bushing and then simply
tap the other side of the hammer with another hammer. We have tried using the
bushing puller method, done the burning rubber bit, done the drill
bit/collapsed shell routine and all have been more of a mess than anything.
Now please note that the hammer should be flat on both sides and span across
the bushing surface to spread the blow evenly across the entire area. If you
don't go overboard with the hammers then you don't have to worry about the
ears on the rear. Now everyone's opinion and abilities is different but I
think that sometimes simpler really is better. One note.... this is more
common sense than anything... but if the bushing isn't budging from the rear
housing then DO NOT try to use a sledgehammer to get it to move, then
it is time to try something else.
