Hey Larry -
I think I will eventually go with a GV O/D as well.  After spending a nice chunk of change on a new TH400 with all the high-strength goodies two years ago, I think that's the best way to go.  The 480LE is too heavy and too complicated to install, and what would I do with my TH400?  Sell it for half of what it cost me?  Having a "6-speed" will be kinda cool too, and I'll still come in under the cost of a 480LE conversion.  My $.02, FWIW.

4l80e is the way to go but
is real spendy. locally i was quoted about $4200.00 to have this put in my
65. it is a very complicated install. With all this info I decided to go a different way.
I'm going the turbo 400 with a gear vendor overdrive. the gv ODs are about
the size of a coffee can and are capable of 1200 hp.you end up with 6 forward
gears as you can split each gear.
