$1000.00 should buy you a nice th400 and the gv is (ouch) $2200.00. This is
spendy too but you end up with a final ratio of . 78 to 1(22%).
That's what I'd do if I had a BB in my car...TH-400's are the best trannies ever built by GM...$3200 is good for both and you won't have to change all your stuff around.
I am not for transferring the new tech stuff into the older cars. I detest computers in cars..... there's some younger guys on the Elky lists with the computer & smog year (80-87) Elkys....all they do is try and figure out why something on their CCC cars isn't right. It may be ok for them to do that, but I don't have the patience or the time.
Stick with the 400 and get an OD unit to go behind it...you'll spend less time in the shop and more on the road!!
