I looked very closely for bent brackets, etc. When you mount them you will see that you would have to bend the frame in order to move the bumper; the bumper brackets just aren't long enough to be bent that far. Washers won't help; I would need to take 3/16" of metal off the frame, not add metal. Besides, the original bumper fit fine. Eventually, I'll probably rechrome it. They look great, but I haven't tried to mount them yet. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Any chance the brackets were bent, or could have been adjusted with washers or something like that? A friend of mine just put repro bumpers on his '70 SS clone and the car looks fantastic! I wonder where Ausley's buys their bumpers... John Nasta Old Car Network http://oldcarnetwork.com -----Original Message----- This goes back to a thread some time ago about repro bumper. I finally got around to installing a repro front bumper for my '71 Malibu that I bought from Ausley's, and the fit was definitely off. It was shifted 3/16" to the left as you look at the car from the front. There is no adjustment for a bumper whose holds are drilled 3/16" too far to the right. Although it fits on the car, the shift is noticable, so I'm not completely happy with the bumper, but it's too much trouble to return.
