Then you have the wrong idea of what crate training is. It is a temporary measure used to TRAIN the pup so that it can be free to run around when it is older. Once the pup is housebroken, the crate is not used to confine. except maybe if the owner must be gone and it is not safe for the chi to be loose at the time, but still this is only short term, like if they need to go to the store or something....not all day every day.
