Sorry to hear about Harry. Sounds like you are taking very good care of him. My Aussie, Zoe has Myesthenia Gravis (sp?). Luckily, she is in remission right now but still has major nerve damage in her rear legs. She is very clumsy and falls over easily. When she first got the disease, she would have spells where her rear end was almost paralyzed. She also got mega esophagus from the illness. Her esophagus was enlarged and caused her to regurgitate her food and water. She got so thin because she wasn't getting enough food into her belly. My husband and I had to hand feed her wet food three times per day and hold her upright for 15 minutes after she ate. She is better now (thank Goodness) that she is in remission but she is still a special needs pet. We don't have to special feed her anymore but there are times where she will still regurgitate her food. She has to continue getting Titer tests to make sure she is okay and she can't get vaccinations (except Rabies) because it might set off her system again. But, Zoe is a sweetheart and I wouldn't trade her for the world! Stefanie

My foster Harry was recently diagnosed with immune mediated vasculititis and polymyosititis, and is on Preddnisone and Immuran. He was nearly dead when I got him, I syringe fed him every hour for a couple of weeks, now he is eating and can walk without falling over, but still vomits every night --- In chihuah...@yahoogro ups.com, Stefanie Brannan <stef...@... > wrote: > > That is the common area to withdraw blood from a dog or cat. I used to work in a cat hospital and that is what they did. Also, my Aussie, Zoe, has an auto-immune disease and requires blood tests every 3 months or so. They always withdraw from the neck artery (carotid artery). It doesn't seem to hurt them at all, even if they bruise.
