It is simple, I am interested in GUIs, and I think that eventually creating or collecting a selection of plugins that will be needed sooner or later anyways, can be done right away. Think about Histogram Widgets, Color-Wheels, Curve-Widget, Node-Canvases, etc.... Why not work on such stuff, as this can be handled relatively independent from the Backend-Core, and when it is time to fit the puzzle together, it can be done.
