:-)
please don't take this offensive, but would you call it "wisdom" to plan and
build a new moon landing rocket spaceship starting out with the "look and feel"
of the instruments in the cockpit??

<sarcasm>Well, we all know this is "common sense" nowadays.</sarcasm>

To return to the GUI discussion: rather than debate about toolkits and widgets,
we should collect ideas how to improve the USABILITY of cinelerra to start with.
There need not be much dabate about the basics; regarding the "big picture", the
GUI of any serious video editing app will be pretty much the same: you will have
sort of a timeline, 2 viewers (with the option to use only one), some asset
manager
with various bins for your footage, and some toolbars.

The serious questions are of this sort: how can I get this GUI *focused* to a
degree
that I see and can easily access the information I need. How can I control this
focusing, adapt it to my varying demands.

When working with the current "state of the art" in any real world project, I
constantly
have *too much* tracks, *too much* effect windows open, *too much* sliders,
*too much*
knobs, I need to scroll around all the time, poke through endless
tabs/lists/bins,
while actually working at any time with only a limited focus set of entities.
The
problem being, this focus is not constant, it doesn't fit with the systematic
hierarchy
and is not known in advance.
We should try to improve things here!

Regards,
Hermann V.
