Heck, if we really want to do something, maybe reputable breeders should

We had/have one. It is called the CKCSC, USA and it was so good at what it
did that breeders opted to use another registry (even the anti-AKC members)
as soon as they had the chance. Most dual registered, true, but if the CKCSC
were all that it claims to be, the anti-AKC members would not have
registered all their dogs in the AKC that first year.

BTW, it was not able to stop puppy mills either. The breeders that they
kicked out for selling to pet stores kept on breeding their dogs and
registered them FIC (or something like that). If the USDA did it's job
properly, there would be no need for AKC to deal with this.

However, I suspect that there will always be animosity between the people
who view dogs as livestock and the people who view dogs as if they were
human--- more than human really. I just wonder if the same people who are so
angry about puppy mills have a similar anger about the abortion clinics.
All the best,
Susan Cochran
