Kim All I can do is give you what I have done or intend to do. I very rarely breed from a bitch over five and don't have more than three litters from any bitch - I have bred at over 5 in two cases - the first was not of my choosing - my old girl now nearly eleven at seven years old decided to take matters into her own hands and have one last fling - fortunately she had a clear heart at the time and is now my one and only spayed bitch! The second over five (going to be six next week) again clear heart is the bitch who had the litter this last week, this will be her last litter. I intend to mate a bitch next year who will be five and a half provided that she tests clear (by a cardiologist) Would I use a bitch over five with a murmur - I don't think so because I have progeny from her earlier litters Would I use a dog with a murmur - yes provided it was a late onset murmur at say 7 years old or there about. I wouldn't use a dog younger than that with a murmur
