was a litter of 12, 9 of which were dysplastic! there are no guarantees in life and i
dont care how many generations of heart clear parents you breed, S**T happens".

This is an excellent example of why breeding dogs "for excellence" is not for the
faint of heart. This breed has multiple areas of concerns that are deeply penetrated
in its genetic make-up. One guarantee in CKCS...when you think you have solved and/or
reduced an "issue" than you are only fooling yourself and maybe others...

1 + 1 does not always = 2

Testing is to gain knowledge to improve "our individual breeding families"...but it
does not offer any guarantees or absolutes. Even breeding nonsymptomatic to
nonsymptomatic in MVD in Cavaliers does not always produce delayed onset form of MVD
in the respected offspring...But it does increase the odds according to retrospective
investigations. Remember the aggressive form of MVD is always waiting as our silent
demon in this deeply penetrated gene pool.

We need additional concrete research...

Take care,
