HI Suze,

I completely agree with you and I have stated as so before, that I use
testing as a tool for not only giving my puppies their best shot in life,
but for knowing as much as I can about the dogs that I am breeding. I
can't understand how or why people do not test...it is like shooting in the
dark. But that is my own personal opinion.

Although, I don't advertise as such and I will not use testing as a mode of
selling puppies...I will say in defense of others, that the buying public
hears only what they want to hear and sometimes no matter how many
different ways a breeder may try to educate, some people (not all) will
only pull forth the portions of the conversation that fits their purposes
and do not hear the rest.

I see this all the time..not just in dogs, but in my work in general. I
work in a very busy resort and no matter how many times we go over
cancellation policies, room descriptions, etc, people will swear up and
down that they were never told of these things. It can be very frustrating
as we document everything that we tell people on their reservation and know
that they had been told.

It is very possible that these people chose to hear only the portion that
the mother of the dog was tested and didn't hear the rest. If they indeed
know that the mother now has MVD, (and if the breeder has told them this)
then I have to believe that that they must have some clue that the
potential for MVD is there for their dog as well.

Just an opinion,
Kind regards,
