Hi Cynthia, I am sorry to hear of a 13 month old with such a severe problem --- my heart goes out to her and to her owners. A safe dosage for this little girl would be one Glucosamine 500/Chondroitin 400 tablet daily. If you have Trader Joe's Markets where you are they sell human grade Glucosamine/Chondroitin in the 500/400 strength for $9.99 for 90 tablets. Otherwise, this strength should be easily found at a Health Food or Vitamin store --- probably at a somewhat higher price, but this will still be lot less expensive than buying the one formulated for dogs through the vet (it's about $90!!). My Vet recommended that I purchase the human grade for my boy who had Patella surgery three years ago and it has worked wonders. Hope this is of some help.
