from: Stephanie Hart [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'm curious as to how long she's in the xpen at any given time? She's very young, 14 weeks is just a baby. My first thought would be for the family to make the pup a "litter box" of sorts out of the bottom of one of those storage plastic bins? maybe out of the lid that measures about 3'x2' and shred newpaper or the pads in there. They should even put some of her "potty" remnants in there for smell at first.
I would pick her up and take her to the potty area/box about every 20 minutes to 1/2 hr and use the same key words to tell her to go potty.. just keep doing the same thing over and over. A change in her routine as described in your email for such a young pup certainly can just throw her off including food changes. She may be confused as to what is expected of her. If she's left alone for any length of time at such a young age, I can't imagine she will abide by any rule not to potty in her bed :) if she has to go, she has to go! I have a feeling she is just too young to expect too much, but they still should be very consistent with her. No scolding or outwardly appearance of displeasure right now as that alone may upset her? I would say just the very excited positive behavior when she "does" something in the area they want her to... oh... and keep a mop close by!! :) I would give her another two months of the same routine with no changes to really start to catch on. You never know, with calm, consistent behavior towards her, she may just "click" one day. The eating thing etc almost sounds like she's left alone with it too long? That part i'm curious about, how long is she alone??
