I tell my puppy people to buy a big jingle bell and hang it nose level from the
door knob. Everytime you take the puppy out first take his paw and ring the bell.
This teachs him a way to let you know he must go out. The problem ususally is not
that the dog is stupid but that he does not know how to tell you that he is at
the door waiting.

If you go up staires or to another part of the house and want to take the puppy
take the bell along with you and hang it from the closed door in the room you are
in and let the dog know it is there. You will be surprised how quickly they
learn.

Thanks
Cathy
