Hi Suze, I love this new house but it's not one for someone that has a good number of dogs and breeds on a regular basis. We only have 4 Cavaliers at this time and 3 of them are retired. But the back door is in the utility room which leads to the breakfast room which leads into the kitchen. All of these rooms have 13" ceramic tile floors with a very dark grey grout. The breakfast room is the dog area with their four crates and for now we are using an exercise pen as the gate to the living room and the rest of the house. We need to move the outside fence over so that the back door leads into the fenced yard versus onto the driveway but again we are using expen fencing from the house to the garage until we have a chance to move the privacy fence. The yard is a good deal smaller than we had at our old house but we do now have an inground pool and the decking around the pool gives the dogs something to race around on. <VBG> Only one dog has had to be fished out of the pool so far - she leaned to close to the edge when she was sniffing the floaty duck thing with the water temperature gauge. Her daughter almost slipped in when walking too close to the edge but managed to get herself out with only one wet leg. Such silly dogs! (BTW, none of the dogs are ever out in the yard without direct supervision but when the water temps warm up a bit more, I will be giving them all a lesson on how to find the steps as an added safeguard.) The neighborhood is very dog friendly with many people walking with two and three dogs. Anyway, as you can tell I'm very pleased with our new home!
