A trade off. I still think sloped croups positively affect gait and length of the stride. And the ability to track under into front feet steps but we hate to look at it. Looked at a greyhound ability to bring the back legs under. Also short backs we like tend to cause crabbing when overdone or sidewinding. My worst moving labs are typier than all get out with short backs no loin. My best are longer with a slight drop to tail. Movement is so difficult because it is an interplay of all legs and body /shoulder not the structure of any one leg. The best movement is usually seen in dogs (mongrel) trotting down the street.
