Laura, anyone can live beyond their means, even Elton John has had his money
troubles-- with all his ability to generate wealth. I haven't checked out
the registration budget since 1995 when it was obvious to me that the design
at that time was to make expenses meet the income. After all, one piece of
paper does not have to cost $10 and that is basically what registration is--
one piece of printed paper.

I know enough about pedigree computer programs and running a business ( two
actually, an "in the mall" florist and a greenhouse business) to know that
the financial budget can be massaged to reflect whatever the people in
charge want it to reflect. If you want it to be in the red, increase labor
costs and inventory or equipment. If you want to show a profit, streamline
and downsize. I opined that the club ran the registry at a loss or close to
a loss due to intent and not stupidity. However, I could be wrong, although
the fact that a non-profit is not supposed to show a profit would tend to
support the former option over the latter.
All the best,
Susan Cochran
