Well, Charlotte, that statement is not only exactly correct, but it is not insulting at all. As a breeder, I have sold/placed most of my puppies in non-breeding/companion homes. Their owners are neither insulted nor do they feel "left out" because they are not in a National Breed club. EVER so slowly, there are an established network of regional AKC Parent club affiliates ( I think there are 11 at last count), open to all who enjoy owning a Cavalier and/or who want to eventually have a Cavalier. These regional clubs are the backbone of the National clubs with regard to sharing breed information, holding events that offer a means of participation to all areas/levels of qwnership. The AKC Parent Club is, infact, a club primarily of breeder/exhibitors. That is its foundation, and that is how it will continue to go forward on behalf of the Cavalier Breed in USA.
