I don't think this issue will go away until AKC dogs are accepted by CKCSC USA, and
I would welcome an end to the constant debate.

But as I consider the issue, I sit here day after day and read posts from breeders
that say "I don't want anyone to tell me how to breed my dogs. I don't want any
rules put on how I make my decisions. I don't think I should have to answer to any
governing body about my choices."

To me, if sounds very close to "I don't want any ethical standards to stand in my
way if I decide to operate for my own personal benefit, regardless of what is
reasonable and decent and in the best interests of the dogs themselves or the
breed." I know that no one has said that, but that's where my mind goes as the next
step.

So persuading me and others like me to vote to relax the rules and give breeders
*more* freedom is the public relations task that must be accomplished before there
will be a favorable vote. Don't use the "genetic diversity" argument to me, I
understand that; what I need to hear about is personal ethics and high personal
standards in how your breeding programs are conducted. I need to know that the
welfare of each individual dog you breed is a top priority, as well as the welfare
and future well-being of each individual puppy you produce. Convince me that less
restrictions will not lead to a more *commercial* mindset.
