Since the subject has come up, I'd only like to share this:

I have a special needs dog who at one time was having
frequent blood panels done. At one visit, his liver values
were suddenly through the roof. Our Vet was horrified at
the numbers, and grilled me to see if I'd done anything
different since the last test.

I quite innocently remarked that the dog had recently enjoyed
gnawing on a pig ear. He *immediately* guessed that to be the cause,
and we had along talk about ears and chews in general.

The dog never had another pig ear (I dumped them all) and since
then have only given rawhide that was cured in the USA.
(And his liver values returned to normal and never rose again).

Just food for thought.

Winnie
