I've used both of your suggestions in the past Winnie, but this couple was a
new experience for me. They asked for a pet and I was very clear about no
breeding and restrictions. They agreed to everything and sent a deposit and
I turned away others buyers for this puppy. When crunch time came and it was
time to send the final payment, they applied the pressure for breeding
rights. I guess they were hoping that I would give in rather than lose a
sale. I am more than a little ticked off as I could have placed this puppy
many times over the last two months. I wasn't obligated to return the
deposit since they were the ones who didn't want to honor the sales
agreement; however, I sent it back anyway via certified mail so they would
have to sign for it because I'd rather wash my hands of the whole thing.
Still, I feel like I got lied to and jerked around on this.

My vet doesn't like early spay/neuter and will only do it if surgery is
needed for a hernia or something like that. Also, I think that it will
change to size of the dog if done too early. It's a real catch 22.
All the best,
Susan Cochran
