Well, I've been lurking throughout this conversation, but finally, I thought I'd add my 2 cents. I acquired my first show prospect in February. Prior to that I talked with SEVERAL different breeders. The most outrageous "offer" I had was for a puppy bitch that was under 2-yrs-old (can't remember her exact age), from a very well-known kennel, who had never been shown, and was NOT leash trained. The offer was $4,000 with 2 puppies back. I declined the offer, and instead bought a beautiful puppydog from Laura Lang. I'm still glad I turned down that "offer". So, if any of you are wondering if there are unreasonable offers being presented to newbies, there it is.
