hi all,
i think alot of people are missing something here. i see nothing wrong with
co-owning as long as both parties are in agreement. granted, there are those
breeders who put so many strings on bitches that it is not only unfair, but
it is also rape. co-owning with a puppy or two back IMO is not neccesarily
a bad thing. there are some people who simply cannot keep that many dogs.
getting a puppy back down the road enables the breeder to keep a line going
or just continuing with a certain pedigree while allowing the other party a
chance to also have a good bitch to start or continue with. and what about
the show prospects that are sold at a pet price? dont you think that giving
a puppy back would be one way of paying the difference between a pet and a
show bitch? and speaking of the difference in prices, what about paying X
amount of dollars for each major the dog gets? its done in many breeds that
way. pay a pet price and the difference between pet vs. show is divided into
two equal payments. if both parties are reasonable, there are ways to work
everything out. seems to me that too many people want something for nothing
and are not taking into consideration all the time and effort it takes to
raise a litter, not to mention the cost. and donning my flame suite, i will
also say that there is nothing wrong with wanting to be compensated for all
that.
