Hi everyone! Savvy went to her first show this weekend and had an absolute blast! Not one thing fazed her, she took all the noise and commotion in stride and trotted around like everyone was there to see her. She's got quite an attitude. I figured she would not have a problem with larger dogs due to the interaction she get with Goldens but I was quite surprised when she became best buds with a Great Dane who was almost my height LOL It was nice to get to meet other Cavalier people too. Congratulations again to Hilarie on your exciting wins this weekend.
While I was at the show I met a young lady who was looking for Debbie Dame or any other Cavalier breeder there. She informed me that she wanted a Cavalier and knew they were hard to get and expensive. She said that she intended to breed a litter if she was going to pay so much for a dog. I gave her the spiel about clearances and explained that pets were sold on a spay/neuter contract, limited registration and sometimes already spayed prior to being placed. I also explained that only show quality dogs are bred and one must really be serious about showing and prove it. I didn't get the feeling that she was out to become a BYB I honestly think she doesn't know better. She gave me her e-mail address and I sent her a ton of info and web sites on Cavaliers, what makes a reputable breeder, what it takes to breed a litter right and why most aren't cut out for it and how to subscribe to the different Cavalier lists to learn more about the breed. She has not written me back and just in case she is not one who can be educated (you never know) and learns how to say the right things I thought I'd let everyone know. That way if she does contact you, you can make up your own mind.
