My experiences with the airlines were similar to most the posts. However
when I went to check in they wanted the information tag from the sherpa bag
that said it was airline approved. ( the advertisement flap with its
dimensions on it) I just happened to have it with me. So that met there
curiosity.

When I flew with Star they did not allow me to take the dog out of the
sherpa through the checkpoint and the flight ( last flight with her in 1999
-things have definitely changed) and security did a hand inspection off to
the side with one of the security gaurds rather than any xray . I would not
let my dog be xrayed at any airport.

In addition to all the other things posted previously we brought along
documents of proof of ownership of our cavalier- a page created in case she
was lost with her photo and detail of all contact for us where we were going
to be and our home numbers on it- her interstate inspection document filled
out by the vet less than ten days prior to departure- and also a recent
photo of us with the dog-all health records in case of needing to seek
medical care in another state.

Northwest airlines gave her a cute little metal aiplane flight pin and a
darling passport book which we had them stamp everytime she flew with them.
After the first flight we put her photo in it and had all her stewards-
pilots and stewardess that played with her sign it as she gained so much
popularity on all her flights.

Happy traveling.
