Vicky, it is called "sour grapes". The old club elite is really furious that
the AKC did exactly as they said they would and recognized the breed. Now,
they are "out of the loop" and no longer have total control over the breed
although the club is desperately trying to keep power over some of the
Cavalier breeders.

The problem is that Cavalier breeders do what is in their self-interest. As
long as they feel it is in their self-interest to dual register, they will
dual register. If they think that dual registering is hurting their ability
to breed a winner or to a winner, they will dump the old club and go AKC
only for registrations.

The old club is actually in a bind. If they thumb their nose at breeder's
concerns, they lose-- breeders will leave in droves and eventually so will
be pet owners as pet owners will follow the registration papers and breeders
will be using AKC papers. If the CKCSC allows AKC dogs, they lose because
part of the old club propaganda is that CKCSC dogs are better than AKC dogs.
It really is a catch 22 for the CKCSC.

All the best,
Susan Cochran
