It wasn't that I didn't appreciate the information that was reprinted from
the Premier cavalier site. I was hoping for more involved information. Such
as is it the norm to do eyes on pups before they go to new homes? This has
been the practice for years in Aussies to find CEA as this is another
defect which covers over as the eye matures and colours in. The deffect is
still there however and does not just "go away"
I have since recieved a few more links to other eye relatated sites, but my
original search has been pointed at the Cavalier breeders on this list whom
I supposed were in the pere group and not only interested in the
superficial aspects of dog ownership and breeding.
So folks how many here do eye exams on puppies before they leave for their
new homes. Do you do all the litter, or just the show prospects? How much
has this helped your breeding programs?
What other pre purchase testing is done. I know many in the US can and do
administer their own innoculations. This is a mixed blessing in that is
saves money, but does remove a licensed veterinarian from the picture.
So again I will hope to stimulate some real dalogue.

Hello Leah,
Sometimes I give my own innoculations. Every pup gets a vet exam as well.
Pups are sold..show as well as pet with a new exam (within the week).
I've done eyes on one litter of pups because there was some question..their
eyes were fine.
