realize that this is far less convenient for many (most?) people ... realize
that you would likely lose a lot of the eyeballs that actually know things if
we moved to such a forum. as i've said previously, as an augmentation i think
it could be useful. as a replacement venue, i think it's an absolutely
horrible idea.
forums are slower, require going to a web browser, doesn't work with the rest
of my messaging, it doesn't offer me the filtering i'm used to, etc, etc..

dangerous == two minor incidents that were easy to clean up... as for creation
of personal accounts, how would we handle that? tier two members only? i
couldn't support that. anyone who sets up an account? then we've only put a
30 second hurdle (create an account) in the way of somone who wants to make a
change... i think the "it's dangerous, let's lock it down" concept is
attempting to justify webboards/moderation/etc as a solution that doesn't
work for a problem that doesn't exist.

i think you and andrew seem interested and for the general idea... perhaps you
two wish to start a committee?

i believe it has PHP and pgsql along with the usual perl and other tools. if
you do decide to start from the ground up and do decide to put some log in
facilities in place, i would like to collaberate as far as melding in the
voting/member list stuff in ...
