For info for those who care. The server hosting CLUG is currently running:
- Apache
- PHP 4.x (Apache mod with Postgresql and Firebird bindings)
- Zope 2.6 (App server used for other domains)
- Postgresql and Firebird 1.0 for RDBMS
- Also has Perl and Python but CGI's are not great given my limited resources
I would rather stay clear of MySQL unless there is a really great reason for it.

forums are slower, require going to a web browser, doesn't work with the rest of my messaging, it doesn't offer me the filtering i'm used to, etc, etc..
The downside is that taking away the WIKI would be a drag because it woulddangerous == two minor incidents that were easy to clean up... as for creation of personal accounts, how would we handle that? tier two members only? i couldn't support that. anyone who sets up an account? then we've only put a 30 second hurdle (create an account) in the way of somone who wants to make a change... i think the "it's dangerous, let's lock it down" concept is attempting to justify webboards/moderation/etc as a solution that doesn't work for a problem that doesn't exist.
prevent people from making changes as necessary. Perhaps if we had a select
group making changes who had to log in under personal accounts who could be
held accountable for their actions it might not be so bad. Leaving it open
as it is now is dangerous but thus far has served us pretty well.
I would like to see if we might be able to get a committee going on this.i think you and andrew seem interested and for the general idea... perhaps you two wish to start a committee?
Anyone interested?
I think all of this is good and some of it has been brought up before. Iti believe it has PHP and pgsql along with the usual perl and other tools. if you do decide to start from the ground up and do decide to put some log in facilities in place, i would like to collaberate as far as melding in the voting/member list stuff in ...
would be nice to get this stuff implemented in a new site context. We
should definitely get a list of resources that Jeff's box has and move from
there. Perhaps starting from the ground up might not be a bad idea either.
