I should clarify this... I don't see a web forum replacing this mailing list. It's just an idea to offer another venue for communication. The inherent efficiencies/inefficiencies are irrelevant. To pooh pooh an idea because of personal bias is not serving our members. Sorry Aaron, no disrespect meant. I like the idea of a forum but I think I am more likely to find the mailing list more useful and helpful to me. Having said that I still don't think it's a bad idea to offer our members or folks at large another option. There are pros and cons to any method.
On the administration side of things you are probably right. I suggested the idea of a 'registered content manager' with the idea that this would be geared towards Tier Two members. This might have meant that updates would be more forthcoming than they are now. Who better to serve duty to CLUG than it's own members. I concede that this is likely to be an unpopular idea even if it is more incentive to be a Tier Two member. I may have been getting ahead of myself. Yes, I understand that there has only been the two incidents thus far. That's not a bad statistic but I am constantly playing the 'what if' game. As I said in another post, we are all adults here, we should be able to maintain an open website. I suppose we can address this issue if it becomes apparent that we are a target for someone playing games. I also envisioned adding the membership database and the HAVS into any future website development so as to keep all this stuff in one place. All appropriate security measures in place of course. Perhaps this is a subject for a vote at an AGM. <shrugs> Are people okay with the idea of their personal information being held on a(nother) server? If we are going to have a committee, I would not object to chairing it. I'll participate in any way that I can. Obviously our website is something that I care about. I wish I were able to do more, maybe this is an opportunity. Jarrod ----- Original Message ----- From: "Aaron J.
