Good idea, at least the live CD will give me a painless way to see if the
distro works with my hardware.

Honestly, I tend to use it for a bit of everything: gaming, recording,
development... I wouldn't be opposed to putting together a machine
specifically for audio if I can learn enough to leave Cubase behind,
but I guess only time will tell.

In terms of audio work, I really don't need it to do anything too complex.
Give me a good multi-track recorder I can plug a mic into, and the ability
to do some post-processing on the mix, and I'm a happy camper.

I may be better off sticking with Etch for now, though. I actually do
use the NVIDIA binary driver a lot--thanks for the warning on that issue.

At the very least, I have managed to get some audio into Ardour, so that's
a positive start! :-)
