HI!
Where does your mom work and would she like another
nurse? Not too many like this one around!

At my previous place of employment the administrator
always came to careplan meetings and also met with families. We also had
a lot of outings from the facility and she usually would go too. She
also would help with trays and feeding if needed. On some rare occasions
she worked the night shift as charge nurse. This wonderful administrator
was my mother and she worked her way up from a CNA to RN to
administrator. So there are types of administrators.

Wow! I've never had a Administrator
attend careplans in all my manmy years of being an MDS/ Careplan
nurse.
I am a DON and when I can, I feed residents. Since when is it not in
the "profession" to have a 1:1 contact with a resident? I agree with the
person who said it is a good way to assess the resident. It also lets the
staff know "we work together". By the way, our administrator brings little
treats for residents (candy if it is allowed) and he personally hands it
to the resident. He has "contact" with the people we call residents
and he attends care plan meetings.

Wrong answer. When are we ALL going to demand respect for our
profession?
When the Administrator and DON start feeding residents, I'll
feed.
