Donna, I applaud you for coming out on the floor to
help your staff.  But I think you may be in the
minority for DON's.  Our staff often doesn't see the
DON unless she goes out to smoke.  As far as 1:1
contact, we all would like to be able to interact more
with our residents but due to mounting regulations and
citations burdening us with extra forms and paperwork
just to cover our backsides, 1:1 contact seems to get
pushed farther and farther into the background. To
answer the original question, I pass meal trays on
most days but rarely feed residents.  Often times I
don't even have time to feed myself.
