I
remember this being an issue once before. The FI is interpreting the regs their
own way, when the FI manual used to clearly state that administration of oxygen
is not a skilled service on its own after the rate and administration schedule
is set. At least that was the way it was when I worked for the FI at the time.
Even then there were discrepancies from FI to FI and CMS has never been able to
keep evryone on the same page. I would be afraid to push this as a covered
service with no other overall complexities in the care of the resident with our
FI (Riverbend)

#1 - Yes the facility billed Medicare Part A for 100 days of skilled care r/t oxygen use.
#2 - I meant the Fiscal Intermediary.
#3 - Other that the Oxygen use, resident was not receiving any other skilled services.
