I also vary the ARD's for PPS to get the highest RUG score, but do it before the calendar is sent out based on conversation with therapy and their "quesstimate" of anticipated minutes, as often as is possible. I also will change ARD's if a session is missed or if the RUG score could be higher. I do not feel that what I am doing is illegal or un- ethical. Sometimes we "win" in the PPS system, sometimes we "lose", conversly, if the 30 day MDS has already been locked and accepted with a RMB, and therapy actually provides RVB minutes, that time we have lost money. Therapy is actually driving the score, by what they provide, not what I woulkd like them to provide, so I am not doing anything that is inappropiate.
-----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Judy Brulotte Sent: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 7:40 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: moving PPS ARDs We have a new therapy company. On their first day they asked me to unlock a PPS MDS and change the ARD because they thought they could capture a higher RUG score. I refused. Now they are asking me to change the ARDs soon after I post the schedule. This does not usually involve RV-RU groups-often RM and RH. I think this may be legal as they are asking me to change the dates prior to the ARDs but I'm not sure this is ethical. I definitely don't think it is standard practice. Can anyone validate this?
