I am sorry to hear it was not good news. There are some treatments that slow the progression of COPD.

I have some new information about my health situation
and wanted to share it with you all...as usual, it's
not good news. I had been hurting in my chest, and a
spot was seen on my catscan back when I first
diagnosed soon to be two years ago, and my primary
physician sent me to a pulmonary specialist. I learned
that I have COPD in the form of emphysema, and I have
lost 50% of my lung capacity already. It seems that I
may have blamed Gleevec for some symptoms that were
not caused by it. The doctor said I had a triple
whammy so to speak, so I'm fighting the emphysema and
CML and Gleevec side effects. I haven't panicked yet
as I knew already. It has gotten harder for me to
breathe and I run out of breath so quickly, and
wheezing. I have been a heavy smoker for some 23 or
more years out of my 43 years on this planet so I
can't blame anyone else but myself. I just want to
urge any of you who may smoke, or anyone you know that
smokes, please quit now before it is too late. It is a
horrible addiction but the consequences are even more
horrible.
Just wondering if anyone has COPD as well? Would love
to hear from you. Take care all...I go to my
oncologist tomorrow...so will update you on that in a
couple weeks, husband has appointment with a surgeon
Friday...so expect him to have surgery soon...when it
rains it pours...literally!
