Dear Doris, Thanks for sharing your story with me. It seems we all have one to tell. This emphysema has scared me far worse than the CML...even tho my doctors tell me the leukemia is still actually a bigger issue. I guess because I feel like the CML is controllable and the emphysema, what damage has already occurred is permanent. I am feeling some better using the Spiriva Inhaler. I am not wheezing and not so short of breath. However, the smoking is still a big issue. I've went from sneeking and smoking to fullblown smoking...and the more pressure I feel from the absolute need to quit, the more I smoke. I can't quit to save my life, literally! But I have excuses why I can't...it's called life..and the constant aggravations, new sicknesses, and common worries. Just fighting the Gleevec side effects is more than I can handle and everything else kinda pushes me over the edge. It is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. But I'm not giving up...I will keep trying and hopefully one day SOON succeed. So glad to hear you are a 11 1/2 year survivor of CML. You are my inspiration. I wish you continued success.
