Subject: [CML] Pat's Update

Greetings Family and Friends,

Just wanted everyone to know I'm still kickin' but not near as high as I once was.  I'm struggling with the nicotine addiction STILL. After being told I have emphysema and being so scared, even more scared than when I was told I have CML, I feel more pressure, more stressed and I continue to smoke. To literally save my life, I can't seem to quit.  I was using the patches and still smoking...so I knew I'd better take it off.  The Spiriva inhaler the doc gave me has gotten rid of the wheezing and improved my breathing, I am not so out of breath as I was. I'm still battling Gleevec side effects as always. I'm down to 118 lbs. I'm still under a lot of stress as my son is still incarcerated, my daughter is living with a psycho, I'm still taking care of my 83 year old mother who will probably out live me, my husband has several health related problems, just last week he was in dire pain in his left side and they found a kidney stone about as big around as a cigerette and they rushed to remove it as he only has one kidney so I spent 2 days at the doctor's office and hospital which literally wore me out. He is better now from the pain but he suffered some weird side effects from what they gave him to put him to sleep. My son was released today to participate in a rehab program for 28 days. It took me 2 months to get it set up and had to go thru a lot of red tape so to speak cuz he was in jail and no insurance, but it was worth the trouble because I finally got him in. He goes back to jail when he completes the program and will be released Dec. 20th.  My son is manic depressive and ADHD and I think  my CML diagnosis really hit him hard. He lost his father when he was 9 years old and it took him years to  come to terms with that, and I remarried and he resented his step-dad. It's a long story...and the title is "Life."

I don't want to get political on a support group site such as this but I'm totally stressed out with our president and all the people who assist him in one way or another to run this country. I'm stressed over this never ending war in Iraq...and scared to death at any minute he's going to strike another country when we can't even pay for this one. How many lives must be lost for nothing?  I'm  disgusted that our president can spend 5 billion a day in Iraq for a needless war but I must live in constant fear of losing my insurance that is keeping me alive at the moment. I am ashamed as an American at the way the people victimized by hurricane Katrina were treated.  I encourage everyone to take notice of what is happening to our lives every day with a corrupt government and VOTE to make a change in 2006 and 2008. Okay, I'm through venting....thank you for allowing me to do so.

I wish you all the very best success with the CML . I want to welcome the newbies...my heart goes out to each of you cuz I've been there, done that and it's not easy but you will find great support here and much knowledge. Don't hestitate to ask any questions no matter how trivial you think they might be....knowledge is power to overcome CML.

Love, Peace, Hope & Prayers to All, Pat Reynolds
