Hey Pat, I too have COPD, early stage emphysema. I just turned 44 and have been smoking 28 years. I was dx'd at the same time as my CML (Talk about having a bad day). I actually went in because I thought my bronchitis was acting up, I've had chronic bronchitis for the last three years and my doc had told me then to stop smoking. In the last five years I have quit and started back up about a half a dozen times, most times I would go 6 to 9 months and then fall off the wagon, it is a horrible addiction. I take Theophylln once a day and I have a nebulizer I can use whenever I feel I need it, I usually don't need it unless I get a chest cold. My husband is a smoker and 'most' on both side of our family so I am constantly around it. I am considering doing both hypnosis and accupuncture to help with the continued desire to break down and smoke. I hope your hubby's surgery goes well. Take care, Brenda dx 5/04 pcru 5/05
