Dennis you are correct: the 30 MK I foredeck is cored except the outboard-most 
inch or two abutting the deck/hull joint (the thickness tapers from 3/4” 
inboard where cored, to 1/4” outboard where not).

A 5:1 bevel toward centerline from the inboard edge of the hole in my foredeck 
would extend 4” inboard over cored fiberglass sandwich from that inboard hole 
edge.

Do you recommend beveling that end-grain balsa core, then laying up fiberglass 
over it?  Or should I dig out the core, replace with epoxy, then bevel the 
epoxy replacement?
