Good point! But I suspect the issue is then between US and UK keyboard
layouts, both of which were available for both sizes of keyboard.

For the smaller one, I have 2 variations immediately to hand:

A US model with 'hash' ('No.') over the 3 on the top row, a return key
on the third row down, and the 'slash/tilde' key above it. Things like
'return' and 'backspace' are labelled with those words. Part No M0110.
Made in USA

A UK model with 'pound' over the 3, a double height return key and
'slash/tilde' located between the 'Z' key and a shortened left side
shift key. 'Return' and 'backspace' are marked with suitable arrows.
Part M0110B. Made in Ireland.

So, I guess that the only likely issue is how you generate the 'hash'
on a UK keyboard and how you generate the 'pound stering' sign on a US
one.

If that can be done with the right combinations, then I'm still not
convinced that a 'file' is required, especially as the very early
versions of Mac OS before System 6 didn't have all the national
variations.

While on the subject, several of my earliest keyboards have a broken
key. ISTR a while back finding a web page on the slightly different
types of key mechanisms used on early Apple keyboards, and how to
identify the different ones for replacement purposes. Anyone know what
I'm on about and have a URL, please?

Stuart.
