Depends what for!

IMHO a network connection increases the real usability of a compact
immeasurably.

Alongside my 'beige G3 about to become a Taco' (G3 in CC) is a more
normal CC, albeit with a 575 logic board. I use it to create floppies
for the compacts I sell, as it has an archive of disc images on it.

My son uses it for 'Dinosaur Designer' (!) and can then print out his
creations to the HP LJ4M+ which is the network printer for the
household.

It can drive a second 8xx by 6xx display when I need to, using the dual
i/p facility of my main screen.

I've taken other Mystics (575 in CC) to be workstations away from base
for emailing etc etc.

I guess the conclusion must be that to be the best 'tool for a job' a
68040 makes a big difference. But floppy-creation would be fine on
anything with a HD.

OTOH, I love booting a Plus with a 800Kb floppy, MacWrite, MacDraw and
400Kb of free space! ;-)
