The other nice thing about a networkable postscript printer is that no matter which direction Apple goes you can be pretty certain that there will be drivers and a connection avenue for it. Serial and USB printers will get left behind as drivers are not updated, but you can pretty much count on there always being a postscript driver available, and even if it isn't the PS driver for your specific printer, it will still work, if your printer supports postscript.
